Abstract

Through 1980, demand for cement in the Pacific Basin countries still seemed to exceed output. Availability of cement in the industrialized and developing countries of East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australasia for the 1975 - 1980 period are discussed in this report. Quantitative data includes production, imports, exports, and apparent consumption. An account of new cement plants and plant extensions is provided. Countries and areas covered include: East Asia---Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Philippines; South east Asia---Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia; Oceania (Australasia)---Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Fiji.
