Abstract

The guide has been developed by officials from resources and environment agencies in the Australian Government and the South Australian and Northern Territory Governments. It elaborates on the Australian Government?s policy that new uranium mines are to be approved subject to world best practice environmental and safety standards. The guide outlines the best practice principles and approaches that apply generally to mining in Australia, before giving more detailed consideration to best practice environmental protection and regulation for ISR mining.
