Abstract

The thermodynamic and chemical properties of SrSO4 and SrS in a gaseous flow of CO and CO2 at high temperature are discussed. The thermodynamic analysis of the system was made using data from the literature. The results obtained from the thermodynamic analysis were experimentally verified using the thermogravimetric technique. The experimental results suggest the formation of a complex compound between SrO and SrSO4. It was also found a change in the chemical mechanism of the process between SrSO4 and CO-CO2 and in the chemical mechanism of the process between SrS and pure CO2.
