Abstract

US 4,201,749-In the Bayer process production of alumina wherein aluminum hydroxide is precipitated from a sodium aluminate solution for use as seed, sodium oxalate and caustic components are removed from the precipitate by washing it first with a washing liquor which is saturated with sodium oxalate but has little content of caustic, and secondly with hot water. Substantially no sodium oxalate is recycled, yet loss of sodium aluminate is minimal. K. Yamada, T Harato, and H Kato, assigned to Sumitomo Aluminum Smelting Co Ltd May 6, 1980 8 pp. (423-127).
