Abstract

Because good and bad blasting must be defined in terms of overall mining costs, blast optimization requires combined blasting and costing models. Furthermore, the models must be both accurate and comprehensive. A combined fragmentation and preliminary costing model was developed to investigate alternative blasting strategies.
