Abstract

High speed cameras were used to view the behavior of underground openings during the passage of ground shock generated by an underground nuclear detonation. Movies from these experiments were shown and a general discussion of the media properties, ground support utilized, and general information gained was presented. A brief discussion of "hardening techniques" developed to protect underground openings from the dynamic effects of a nuclear explosion was included. No manuscript received
