Abstract

100 YEARS AGO, on the first of August, 1877, the mining engineer Friedrich Koepe was granted the patent rights for a hoist driving ropes on the principle of friction. It was named after him: the Koepe hoist. On the occasion of this centenary, the main features of the Kcepe principle are described.
