The equipment was supplied to Coal & Allied Operations Pty Limited (Coal and Allied) by Westfalia Australia Pty Limited (Westfalia). The project commenced as a feasibility study in 1983, a proposal was put to the board of directors in March 1984 and a specification distributed. The surface facilities, transport system, water and electrical supplies to the colliery were also to be upgraded.
